Cayuga County
Reverse-911 system used at end of water advisory

Cayuga County was able to use its new Hyper-Reach system Jan. 25 to inform Cato residents that a boil-water advisory had been lifted, according to a news release issued Thursday by the county Health Department.

In December, county legislators approved entering into a three-year contract with Sam Asher Computing Services for the purchase and installation of a reverse-911 system. The system allows the county to send out mass calls in emergencies or other instances.

A voice message created by the county's E-911 center was dispersed to households in the targeted area. The boil-water advisory was issued after a waterline broke on Main Street in the village. In the future, residents will be able to register their cell phones into the system.

For more information, call the Health Deparment at 253-1560 or e-mail the E-911 center at cc911@cayugacounty.us.
